Statement on the Anniversary of February 24, 2022

On this, the 365th day of Russia’s full-scale invasion into Ukraine, we commemorate the horror and tragedy of the last twelve months, while simultaneously standing resolute in our faith and belief that 2023 will be the year of Ukraine’s ultimate victory.

We solemnly mark nine years of war and the incursion into Ukrainian territory, actions which have irreparably changed Ukraine and its people. In some ways, the changes have been centuries in the making and even decades overdue. In others, Ukraine has simply been unapologetically showing the world how different perception is from reality, while reminding it of the true cost of democracy and freedom.

The existential war that has landed on the doorstep of every Ukrainian home is one which has called Ukrainians around the world to stand united in the face of genocidal dictatorship. It is a war which has taken loved ones from these homes, many to never return again. It is also a war that has solidified the resolve and resilience of Ukraine’s people, bringing great pride and unity amid utter heartbreak.

On this, the 365th day of Russia’s full-scale invasion into Ukraine, we call on the world to keep standing with Ukraine. To do so is a commitment to the very democracy and freedom that we enjoy where we live. To do so is to be on the right side of history.

Слава Україні! Героям слава!
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!
