USUSA Activities in 2015

The University of Saskatchewan Ukrainian Students Association has been extremely busy both on campus and in the local community, especially this semester. They began the term by caroling during the Ukrainian Christmas holidays, as a means to fundraise for its many activities. All efforts were then focused on the planning of their “Zabava Night” – a fundraiser for humanitarian aid in Ukraine. A first event of its kind for the USUSA, the executive planned and executed a successful dinner/dance fundraiser, attracting over 200 guests for the evening. Local performers and businesses donated their time and talents to participate in this worthy cause, and nearly $8000 were raised to be sent to those in need in Ukraine. On March 8th, International Women’s Day, the USUSA cooperated with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Saskatoon Branch to organize an awareness rally for imprisoned Ukrainian pilot, Nadiya Savchenko. This event was held on campus at the Lesya Ukrainka statue.

The PCUH is proud to continue its support of USUSA, both institutionally and financially. They have grown significantly in the last few years and very much contribute to the Ukrainian community at the U of S.
